Free Informational Seminar

Dr. Steven Louis of Hinsdale Orthopaedics, one of a few surgeons in the Chicago area performing the revolutionary, less-invasive direct anterior approach to hip replacement, is  conducting a free, informational seminar on this technique.  The seminar will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 25, in the Red and Black Oak Rooms at Good Samaritan Hospital, 3815 Highland Avenue in Downers Grove.  To register, please call 1.800.323.8622 and use event code 4G78.   This event is free and open to the public.

The anterior approach (from the front) is less invasive, less painful and allows a quicker recuperation than traditional hip replacement surgery done from the rear or side of the body.  That’s because this technique is minimally invasive and allows the surgeon to replace the hip without detaching muscles around it.  Consequently, the important gluteus muscles, which play a key role in hip function, are less affected than with traditional hip replacement surgery.

Download BrochureThis sophisticated procedure depends on surgeon training and experience. Dr. Louis is a board certified orthopaedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in the area of trauma, giving him an edge over other surgeons, because he is experienced in surgical techniques that spare as much tissue as possible.

With less tissue and muscle damage, patients return to normal activities sooner and are pain-free more quickly.
