Hinsdale Orthopaedics surgeon Dr. Steven Louis is highly skilled in treating patients with fractures in all the lower extremities, but most commonly he sees injuries of the tibia and fibula (two long bones in the lower leg) and hip.

Lower Extremity Bones

Dr. Steven Louis treats trauma patients with injuries in the following lower extremity bones/joints:

  • Hip (ball and socket joint connecting leg to body)
  • Femur (thigh bone)
  • Knee
  • Patella (bone in the kneecap)
  • Tibial plateau (located at the top of the shin bone, below the knee joint)
  • Tibia (shin bone)
  • Pilon(where the shinbone meets the ankle joint)
  • Ankle (joint where the shin and foot meet)
  • Fibula (small bone on outside of leg)
